EMS Uniform classifications
Class A Uniforms for EMS for formal and events requiring distinctive dress
Class A uniforms for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are formal attire designed to convey professionalism and authority. These uniforms are typically worn at official events, ceremonies, and other occasions where a polished appearance is essential.
Made from premium wool or wool blends for a sharp, professional look. Insignia and embellishments that denote rank and experience are often used with minimal adornments. Commonly dark navy in color with White prema-press long-sleeved dress shirts with a name plate above the right chest pocket and badge on the left chest, often with minimal adornments.
Class B Uniforms – Reliable Everyday Duty Gear
Class B uniforms are the workhorses for everyday patrol and public interaction. Designed for durability and comfort, these uniforms use lighter-weight polyester blends that resist wrinkles and hold up to long shifts. The style maintains a professional appearance with button-front shirts, military creases, and matching pants — often with practical cargo pockets for gear.
For EMS personnel, these uniforms strike a balance between sharp appearance and utility, often paired with tactical boots, durable belts, and weather-appropriate outerwear to handle the demands of daily response.
Class C Uniforms – Tactical and Mission-Focused Mobility
Class C uniforms focus on mobility and specialized tasks — think tactical teams, K9 units, and physical operations. These uniforms ditch the military creases for an athletic, combat-ready fit made from ripstop or similar flame-resistant fabrics. Reinforced knees, bellowed pockets, and breathable materials help professionals stay agile and equipped during physically demanding situations.
Increasingly, departments are embracing Class C uniforms for daily wear because of their comfort and tactical edge. These outfits pair well with load-bearing vests, nylon web belts, and tactical boots — reflecting the evolving needs of modern first responders on the front lines.
Which Uniform Class Is Right for Your Agency?
Choosing between Class A, B, or C uniforms isn’t just about tradition — it’s about the realities of your team’s daily work and public presence. Chiefs and uniform committees must weigh operational needs, comfort, budget, and the image they want to project.
Whether your agency prefers the classic authority of Class A, the dependable functionality of Class B, or the tactical performance of Class C, modern custom uniforms are available in every style and fit — built for every gender, body type, and mission.
Class D Uniforms
Class D uniforms are typically training or work uniforms. Used for non-operational duties or training exercises.
Often made from more casual materials that prioritize comfort and practicality over a formal appearance.
