The mission of the Wisconsin EMS Honor Guard Association is to honor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers with dignity, reverence, and compassion during life’s most challenging moments. We stand alongside families, friends, and colleagues in times of loss, providing a visible expression of respect and gratitude for lives dedicated to service. Through our presence, we aim to foster a deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by EMS professionals while strengthening the bond between our communities and those who serve them.
The Wisconsin EMS Honor Guard Association offers comprehensive ceremonial and support services for our fallen EMS brothers and sisters. We assist families and agencies with funeral planning and coordination, as well as guidance regarding Line of Duty Death (LODD) benefits. Our ceremonial services include the presentation of Colors, honorary pallbearers, and casket watch. Additionally, we can provide bagpipers, a bugler for the rendering of Taps, uniformed ushers, and professional door attendants. When requested, a Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)–certified chaplain is available to support families and members in their grief with care and understanding.
The Honor Guard was founded in 2003 by a small group of dedicated EMS professionals in Wisconsin who recognized the need for a unified and dignified way to honor their own. Since then, we have grown into a coordinated statewide organization with regional districts, ensuring consistent and dependable service wherever it is needed. Regardless of location, we operate as one team—committed, prepared, and ready to serve.
Membership in the Wisconsin EMS Honor Guard Association is open to individuals of good moral character who are or have been licensed EMS providers in the State of Wisconsin. We are united not only by our profession but by a shared commitment to honor, tradition, and service. Each member understands the responsibility of representing both the Honor Guard and the EMS profession with the highest standards of conduct.
Each district is led by a director who serves on our State Board of Directors, ensuring consistency in training, operations, and ceremonial excellence across the organization. Though we have a structured approach, we remain grounded in volunteerism—every member freely gives their time, skills, and heart in service to others.
Our services are provided at no cost to families or agencies. In the spirit of service, we welcome donations to support the continued operation of the Honor Guard, which includes uniforms, equipment, training, and travel. These contributions help us sustain our mission and ensure that no EMS provider is ever forgotten.
The Wisconsin EMS Honor Guard Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, incorporated in the State of Wisconsin. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
